    Asharqia Chamber organizes a workshop on the role of the Communications and Information Technology Commission in enabling the emerging technologies sector​​

    Asharqia Chamber, represented by the Communications and Technology Committee, organized a workshop entitled: The role of the Communications and Information Technology Commission in enabling the information technology sector and emerging technologies, in which the Director-General of Empowering Information Technology at the Communications and Information Technology Commission, Eng. Abdulaziz Al-Halil, spoke via zoom technology on Tuesday, August 31, 2021.
    During the meeting, which was moderated by a member of the committee, Eng. Ahmed Al-Hussein, about enabling and developing the information technology sector and emerging technologies to make the Kingdom a global center for information technology and emerging technologies, Al-Halil said, referring to the strategy’s objectives in promoting development in the categories of hardware and software for specific sectors, and expanding the added value of devices along the chain. The value in selected industries, and the development of local software solutions in selected industries, noting that the technology sector strategy works to enable the localization of data center services and world-class cloud computing services through international partnerships and the development of empowered local players from small, medium and large-sized companies.​
    Al-Halil explained that the authority is working to develop strong local IT service companies with more relevant roles played by small and medium companies, improve computing services and local data centers in line with global practices, increase the number of locally developed solutions to become a major global facility for smart solutions and develop and use technology solutions. Innovative startups.
    On the challenges facing the sector, Al-Haleel pointed out the market’s lack of a unified database for companies and the absence of a unified channel for communication, in addition to the lack of a clear view of the future, the plurality of parties to register, the limited invitation to projects, the frequency of international companies entering the market, the lack of partnership, merger, and acquisition, and the lack of a catalyst. To develop the quality of services, stressing the importance of providing appropriate solutions to these challenges, including a unified point of contact, a clear vision, a channel for support and empowerment, and quality development.​
